Djokovic vs Del Potro in Rome quarter-final
Novak Djokovic booked his ticket to the quarter-finals of the Italian Open with a straight sets win over Philipp Kohlschreiber.
The Serbian world number one won his third round match 6-3, 6-0 after earlier easing past Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-1, 6-3.
"I like the fact that I didn't play yesterday because I felt like I needed an extra maybe day of rest and recovery a little bit," said the Serb. "So it was perfect."
Djokovic, next plays Juan Martin Del Potro for a place in the semi-finals.
Delpo produced a solid blend of power tennis in victories over David Goffin and in his dismantling of Casper Ruud’s game for a 6-4, 6-4 win over one hour and 36 minutes.
Djokovic leads his Head2Head rivalry with Del Potro 15-4. He’s won their past five matches and all three of their previous meetings on clay.
